With the release of Compact Pro 1.33 and StuffIt 3.0, the time has come to reevaluate the standing of the these two compression programs. Both Compact Pro and StuffIt show considerable speed improvements in their new releases. However, StuffIt also shows big improvements in compression, and its decompression times are as much as 40% less than with Compact Pro. As the chart shows, StuffIt now holds a slight edge in compression, as well as a speed advantage. Disk Doubler is considerably faster than both StuffIt and Compact Pro, but shows poor compression results on binary files.
